Here is a link to the latest Abilene radio ratings data. Keep in mind this is everyone 12+, so it's not divided up by demographic.

In the spring period ktlt did a 1.2 rating, down from 2.3 and 2.4 in spring 09' and fall 09' respectively.
I'm sure the numbers were a bit better for males 18-54 years old or whatever but we don't have that data.
I've always found ktlt to have a very weak signal...the weakest signal in the cumulus cluster. Sure it comes in on vehicle radios in the city limits, but once you get north of the city it fades quickly. Even in the city, we had a heck of a time receiving the station from a decent stereo while sitting on the patio.
Finally, advertisers will want to put $$$ in to a cluster that has a sports station instead of the [very distant] second rated rock station in the market. Since Abilene is such a small market, advertisers will buy time on a cluster [cumulus, gap, doud, etc.] instead of each station individually. Sports advertising is huge business.
Sad to see 98x go, but glad to have espn back in town!

We have 3 lines with Verizon we lose service between 9 and 11.We have dropped calls all day.We just left Verizon on clack they suggested that we upgrade.The service is terrible but the bill went up.I asked them to explain that to me the response was our phones are doing it to.I cant wait until the contract is up so we can go yo ATT.

Oh yeah...and when you do talk to customer service, it is generally more helpful to ask for a supervisor. It also helps a lot when you have the names and numbers of all your friends who are on Verizon. That way you can tell them what I did...that 6 of my co-workers all lose service at the exact same time (and we all have different phone models). That's how you let them know this is more than just a problem with YOUR phone. Also, request a trouble ticket be submitted.

I can't stress the importance of continuing to call customer service each time it happens. Even though they seem unhelpful, the more we as customers continue to file complaints, the more likely we are to see a resolution. I would also suggest filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org Make sure the complaint is about the national Verizon office, not a local store. My complaint went through the Trenton, New Jersey BBB office (that's where Verizon is located). Again, more complaints made on the same issue by different customers means a fix is more likely - and more timely.

I use to have Verizon/Alltel service..., but then my bill was becoming outrageously high, I would call in and customer service would tell me that it was due to roaming fees. So then when I stated to them that I had been Abilene the whole time, they checked into the problem and indeed I was not lying... They tried to fix the problem, then it started to began every two months my phone bill would be $2,000 plus and everytime I would call in..., it was ridiculus. I mean no cell phone company in their right mind would let a customers cell phone bill get that high...Finally the last time it happened customer service told me that I would have to pay $600 dollars and some change... I was like okay if I was a fool I would pay that...Needless to say I had them turn off service... that is non-sense for a cell phone company to have service like that.. I NEVER liked Verizon wireless and when Alltel switched if I would not have just signed a contract I would have let the service go.. Verizon is always having problems and they dont ever seem to get nothing fixed. I'm really glad to know that other people are starting to see that.

yeah mine has been going out every evening, and then it will periodically go out during the day as well. and it'll come in spurts to give me text messages missed calls and voicemails then go out again!

Abilene Animal Control does not go out looking for strays. They get dozens of calls daily from citizens...most regarding strays. They are also a shelter that takes in all comers. No dog or cat is turned away. They have limited space and are working hard to make sure that as many animals as possible find homes. Before you criticize them, make sure you do your part. Spay and neuter your animals, don't buy from breeders or pet stores, and volunteer with them to see what they deal with daily.

The animals in the City's "Shelter" are put down by lethal injection. The bodies are then piled and put into big incinerators (this burns them into ashes). I've heard talk of them building a "death row" outside the shelter (in the back). And making room for freezers to put the bodies in so they don't have to burn the incinerators every day of the week.

RE: Starting a foster program -someone has to do it instead of just talking about it. We live in the country so no animal control vehicle comes around. However we do get stray cats that come to our ranch and also adopt from the shelter in town when we can. In keeping with responsible animal husbandry everthing is neutered or spayed - yes even the strays that come to our ranch. Unfortunately, most people just turn a blind eye to the problem, talk but don't act. If everyone would neuter or spay there wouldn't be an overpopulation; quit buying from puppy mills (& pet stores because that's where they get them - keeping those horrid places in business. The chickens were possibly picked up by animal control and unclaimed or seized from illegal activity - i.e., cockfighting. And instead of sending flowers to a funeral, donate to your local shelter in memory of someone special...for a living cause. Just a few suggestion on how you can help.
